December Days

December

December is a special time of year, focused on wrapping up the first semester, and focusing on the holiday spirit. Below are some great resources to celebrate and remember specific days throughout the month of December.

December 1st is Rosa Parks Day – Scholastic has a great resource for grades 3-5 and 6-8 for a class period.

December 7th is National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day – EDSITEment! offers a high school unit about “The Road to Pearl Harbor.”

December 15th is Bill of Rights Day – Brain Pop has a short movie, quiz and other activities to help withthe Bill of Rights while this Bill of Right’s video discusses what is important to a variety of people. Start a discussion within your class about the importance of the Bill of Rights to each of your students.

December 21st is the Winter Solstice, and is the shortest day of the year (although if you’re still in session, probably feels like the longest day!) Education Worldoffers a variety of activities for the solstice to try out with your class.
